President Geingob to reflect on significant achievements in Independence Day address

State House says President Hage Geingob's address on Independence Day will be consistent in reflecting on significant achievements in nation-building over the past 33 years, notwithstanding the work that lies ahead toward total economic emancipation. 

Press Secretary, Alfredo Hengari says most of the achievements outlined by the President during the State of the Nation Address speak to a resurgent nation, consistent with this year being one of revival.

De Beers Group CEO at State House

The De Beers Group says its current deals with countries, including Namibia, are fair and appropriate.
The Group's outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Bruce Cleaver, paid a courtesy call on President Hage Geingob at State House.

Cleaver also introduced the incoming Chief Executive, Al Cook, to Dr. Geingob and Mines and Energy Minister, Tom Alweendo.

Cook will also be representing De Beers Group on the board of Namdeb Holdings, which is a 50/50 venture with the government.

Miss Namibia organization will soon create platform to train title holders in entrepreneurship

The Miss Namibia organization will soon create a platform where title holders will be given masterclasses in entrepreneurship and additional skills.

According to nbc's Director General Stanley Similo, the organization is transitioning away from solely providing platforms for beauty pageants.

Five Heads of  Mission present letters of credence to President Geingob

President Hage Geingob has urged diplomats accredited to Namibia to explore new areas of cooperation using the existing frameworks.

The President received letters of credence from five Heads of Mission at State House.

The new diplomats include the USA's Randy Berry, Zhao Weiping from China, Muktar Kedir Abdu from Ethiopia, and Alexis Bukuru from Burundi.

Ambassadors Berry and Zhao are the only resident ambassadors, while the rest are concurrently accredited to Namibia and South Africa.

UNAM and Germany's Anhalt University of Applied Sciences signs MOU

The University of Namibia and Germany's Anhalt University of Applied Sciences have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop an academic program in renewable energy sources, including green hydrogen.

The agreement was signed at State House, in Windhoek.

Academic programs to be developed include those on solar energy and its applications, as well as green hydrogen technology, transport logistics, and sustainable energy policy and business.

Church's role in the liberation struggle cannot be overlooked - Christine ||Hoebes

State House says the strategic role that the church played during the liberation struggle and continues to do so cannot be overlooked as a strategic partner of the government.

Christine ||Hoebes, Minister in the Presidency, says the faith-based community helped Namibians to integrate and continues to influence policies towards socio-economic development.

||Hoebes hosted the visiting renowned American evangelist of Deeper Fellowship Church, William McDowell, for discussions on the challenges Namibia has faced over the last seven years, including drought and COVID-19.

State House dismisses claims of discrimination against Jerry Ekandjo

State House has dismissed claims that Jerry Ekandjo is discriminated against and that his attempts to contest the Vice President position are sabotaged by President Hage Geingob.

According to a media statement issued by the Presidency, it was the democratic processes in Swapo that denied Ekandjo the opportunity to ascend to the party's top leadership positions on multiple occasions.

The statement says, contrary to claims that President Geingob is working actively towards excluding Ekandjo, the truth is that the Head of State has come to his rescue.
