Start Up SADC founder highlights need for Africans to promote industrial development

The United Entrepreneurs Association of Namibia, together with the Start-Up SADC member states, aims to create a single market for goods and services to deepen economic integration on the African continent.

The founder of Start-Up SADC, Moses Sereme, says there is a need for Africans to hold hands to promote industrial development and sustainable and inclusive social-economic growth.

He was speaking at the Start-Up SADC conference by the United Entrepreneurs Association of Namibia at Swakopmund.

Africa to lose up to US$50 billion of its GDP per capita yearly from climate change effects

Africa could lose up to US$50 billion of its Gross Domestic Product per capita every year from the effects of climate change by 2030. 

Against this background, African countries are urged to put climate change dialogues into action as they prepare for the UN Climate Change Conference, to be held next month in Egypt.

These were remarks at the 10th Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa, held in Windhoek.

AU Commission Chairperson urges Africa to curb foreign aid and stimulate peace

The Chairperson of the African Union says Africa must create wealth amongst its people as a tool to curb foreign aid and stimulate peace.

Moussa Faki Mahamat says the need to embrace African ideas on issues facing the continent is also critical to attaining transformation across all spheres of life.

Mahamat also raised concern about the unconstitutional seizure of political power in Africa, saying although success has been achieved in restoring peace across Africa, concerns still exist.

Founder/President of ADDI says Africa must rise and reclaim its position in the world

The Founder and President of the African Diaspora Development Institute, Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao, says Africa must rise and reclaim its position in the world.

Dr Chihombori-Quao and her delegation are in Namibia to identify areas of investment as the African diaspora strives towards economic emancipation.

She said Namibia is on the right track with the 3rd revolution, which is economic emancipation.

However, she highlighted that multinationals that ran the economies during African countries' colonial eras continue to control the continent's economies.

Reversal of democratic processes in some African countries concerns President Geingob

President Hage Geingob is concerned about the reversal of democratic processes in some African countries, more than 50 years after the continent rid itself of colonialism.

President Geingob expressed the sentiments when he hosted the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, at State House.

Dr Geingob lauded the African Union's progress in promoting democracy among member states since its formation.
