National Assembly MPs support the establishment of a Genocide Memorial Museum

Members of Parliament in the National Assembly from different political parties have expressed support for the motion calling for the establishment of a Genocide Memorial Museum for the victims of the 1904–08 Herero-Nama genocide.

But some MPs had more ideas on how the motion should be enriched and treated to reflect a national identity.

Maltahohe Community Development Forum members protest over lack of development

Members of the Maltahohe Community Development Forum handed over a petition to the Village Council,  in protest over the lack of development.

Some of the issues residents raised in the petition include the failure of the council to hold community meetings during the past 3 years, and nepotism which they say is becoming a daily occurrence in the village. 

The Chairperson of the Village Council Hanna Swartbooi received the petition.

The Maltahohe Community Development Forum has given the village council 21 days to respond to their demands.
 

Government is investigating the misuse of PSEMAS by members - President Geingob

President Hage Geingob says the government is investigating the misuse of the Public Service Medical Aid Scheme, PSEMAS by members and in some cases, their dependents.

Dr. Geingob said this during a courtesy visit by a team of medical professionals under the UK-based Adam Global Healthcare program, at State House on Monday.

President Geingob told the delegation that the country’s medical coverage is quite good, however, abuse has been taking place costing the government millions of dollars.

Swapo members, supporters flock to Otjiwarongo Hall for regional engagement with candidates

Swapo Party members and supporters flocked to the Otjiwarongo community hall for the regional engagement with candidates vying for the three top posts at the upcoming congress. 

It was all blue, red, and green, and the hall and the yard were packed with many people clad in party gear.

Prospective Central Committee Candidates lined up to introduce themselves and solicit support from members for the upcoming Congress.

SAN members celebrate 30th anniversary

President Hage Geingob has commended the work of the Security Association of Namibia for maintaining law and order.

The association marked its 30th anniversary today.

Members of the Security Association marched through the streets of Windhoek in celebration of the anniversary.

In a speech read on his behalf, President Hage Geingob commended the work of security companies in protecting properties as well as in maintaining law and order.

NUDO reinstates suspended and expelled members to restore unity

The National Unity Democratic Organisation (NUDO) has pardoned its members who were suspended and expelled.

Party President Dr Utjiua Muinjangue told a media conference that the decision by the Central Executive Committee aims to restore unity ahead of the 2024 national elections.

Those expelled from the party in 2019 include former Okakarara Constituency Councillor, Vetaruhe Kandorozu.

CoW accused of mismanagement of Farm Okukuna garden project in Goreangab Dam

Beneficiaries and members of Farm Okukuna, a community garden project in the Goreangab Dam area, are accusing the City of Windhoek of mismanagement since they took over the project.

Established in May 2018, Farm Okukuna was a community-led project, producing vegetables and other alternative forms of farming to feed themselves and other communities in Windhoek.
