Namibia satisfied with progress made in fight against HIV and AIDS

Namibia has made significant progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS, coming very close to meeting the 95-95-95 testing, treatment, and viral suppression targets of UNAIDS.

In Namibia, 95% of all adults 15 to 49 years old are aware of their HIV status, of whom 97% are accessing treatment, and 94% of these have suppressed their viral loads.

Minister in the Presidency Christine ||Hoëbes says Namibia proudly celebrates this progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

||Hoëbes addressed the World AIDS Day commemoration at Mariental.

Promote and preserve cultural traditional norms among

The Minister in the Presidency, Christine ||Hoebes, says there is a need to promote and preserve cultural and traditional norms among communities.

||Hoebes made this remark at the official launch of the #Nisa Daramadī dress, loosely translated as proud Gobabis women's dress.

||Hoebes says a person is identified by their culture, and events such as the Damara dress should be used to foster unity and promote social cohesion within communities.

Minister ||Hoebes urges farmers to improve farming methods

The Minister in the Presidency, Christine ||Hoebes, is urging farmers at Tsjaka and surrounding villages to change their methods of farming to increase food security.

||Hoebes remarked this at the official opening of the Tsjaka Agricultural and Industrial Show 2023 in the Kalahari Constituency.||Hoebes emphasised that it is time that farming communities move away from keeping large herds of livestock and add additional components to their farming practices.

She urged stakeholders to assist farmers in this regard. 

Liberation struggle icon Hadino Hishongwa has died

Liberation struggle icon and former Ambassador Hadino Hishongwa has died.

Aged 80, Hishongwa died this morning at Ongwediva Medipark after an illness.

Hishongwa served as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly from 1990 to 2005.

During that time, he served as the Minister of Youth and Sport as well as the Deputy Minister of Labour and Human Resources Development.

Hishongwa also served as Namibia's Ambassador to Botswana and played a pivotal role in the strengthening of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Omaheke residents urge to utilise Innovation Kitchen

The Minister in the Presidency, Christine ||Hoëbes has called upon residents of the Omaheke Region to utilise the just launched Innovation Kitchen at Gobabis optimally to promote their products and services.

The Innovation Kitchen will also enable entrepreneurs to get training and funding.

||Hoëbes says the Innovation Kitchen should be a stepping stone towards ensuring that locals are well equipped to excel.

Government refutes claim that green hydrogen project is shrouded in secrecy

The Minister in the Office of the Presidency, Christine ||Hoebes has refuted allegations that the government's green hydrogen project is shrouded in secrecy.

||Hoebes says the allegations come despite extensive consultation between the head of state and the Green Hydrogen Council.

The minister argues that allegations of secrecy surrounding the country's green hydrogen ambitions are unfounded and lack substantial evidence. 

Churches called to organize themselves
