Minister clarifies cost of procured horses

The Minister of Environment and Tourism, Pohamba Shifeta, has issued a clarification regarding the recent controversy surrounding the procurement of horses for the newly established horse unit.

A weekly local paper had previously reported that 13 horses were acquired at a cost of N$1.6 million, equivalent to N$130,000 each, but the Minister has stated that this information is false and misleading.

The minister was responding to a question posed by Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) MP Maximalliant Katjimune during a parliamentary session.

Ombonde People's Park implementation underway

The communities of the Kunene Region have finally come to an agreement over the planned establishment of a wildlife conservation park in the region and have since agreed on its implementation.

The park, which will be known as Ombonde People's Park (OPP), will be Namibia's first large-scale voluntarily established protected area, aiming to maintain biodiversity while developing socio-economic opportunities for the area's residents through tourism and the sustainable use of wildlife.

Dune 7 Open to Public

Dune 7 in Walvis Bay has reopened to the public and will be operating from eight o'clock in the morning to seven o'clock in the evening every day. This follows after the Tourism Ministry with co-funding from the Game Product Trust Fund renovated facilities and gave it a facelift.
