Walvis Bay Municipality to start negotiations with Red Force

Administrators of the Walvis Bay Municipality say negotiations with Red Force will commence following the official termination of the contract on Wednesday.

Red Force, however, says the latest development is disturbing and comical because it violates the agreement between the two parties.

Over the past four weeks, Walvis Bay residents and all local authority councillors have ganged up on Red Force, which was appointed six months ago to collect more than N$300 million owed by residents in outstanding water debts.

Swakopmund Council extends CEO's contract

Swakopmund Municipal Council has extended Chief Executive Officer Archie Benjamin's contract for another five years. 
 
Mayor Dina Namubes says Benjamin has played a major role in driving positive change and progress in the municipality.

According to the Swakopmund Municipal Council, the Chief Executive Officer's leadership, dedication, and profound commitment to the community were among the main reasons his contract was extended.

TUCNA calls for permanent jobs at MTC

The Trade Union Congress of Namibia (TUCNA) has also called on MTC Namibia to give permanent employment to those who have been working on contract for years at the call centres.

The union says it has received several complaints from MTC's contract workers at the call centre.

Some employees have allegedly been on contract for more than five years.

This, TUCNA president Mahongora Kavihuha says, contravenes the provisions of the Labour Act.

Walvis Bay woman electrocuted at work says her contract was terminated while in ICU

A 23-year-old Walvis Bay woman who was electrocuted at work says her contract was allegedly terminated while she was admitted to the intensive care unit.

The now disabled Theresia Jeremia was once a healthy young woman before she survived an electric shock incident in her line of duty.

This situation has left Jeremia in the full-time care of family and friends.

Jeremia moved from the rural area years ago to look for greener pastures in the harbor town.

She was then employed by Spar as a chef on a contract until the incident around June last year.

Roads Authority board extends employment contract of Lutombi for another three years

The Board of the Roads Authority has decided to extend the employment contract of Chief Executive Officer Conrad Lutombi for another three years.

The three-year extension is also to allow for the recruitment process to commence timely and facilitate a smooth handover once Lutombi retires.

The extension also comes barely weeks after Lutombi was offered the top job at City Windhoek, whose package he said he was studying at the time.
