Operation Basadi launched

Between January and November 2023, 183 crimes were committed against women and children in the Kavango West Region. 

The region has now joined the rest of the country in carrying out "Operation Basadi," targeting wanted persons for violence against women, children, and the elderly.

Members of the Namibian Police Force in Kavango West took to the streets of Nkurenkuru, signifying the start of "Operation Basadi," which will run until December 6.

Ohangwena female police officers including the Regional Commander, Commissioner Elizabeth Sibolile welcomed newborn babies at Eenhana Maternity Ward with gift hampers.

The gesture is part of Operation Basadi.
 
Operation Basadi focuses on combating crime, enhancing unity as well as fighting violence against women and children. 

Commissioner Sibolile says theirs, is not only to maintain law and order, but also to instill a sense of belonging, unity and harmony in communities. 

Otjozondjupa women ready to play their part during the countrywide Operation Basadi

In the Otjozondjupa Region, women in uniform are ready to play their part during the countrywide Operation Basadi, targeting suspects and wanted persons for cases of violence against women, children, and vulnerable persons.

In a meeting held at the Otjiwarongo police station on the operation aimed at ending violence against women and children, the discussion focused on rape, murder, kidnapping, and assault with the intent to cause bodily harm.

They will also be targeting online sexual abuse, human trafficking, crimen injuria, baby dumping, and child neglect.

Female police officers making strides in ensuring safety, security through Operation Basadi

Female police officers will continue to make strides in ensuring safety and security as they embark upon Operation Basadi.

The officers marched in Windhoek to create awareness and commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Basadi, meaning "women" in Setswana, is a SADC-wide law enforcement operation that the female members of the Namibian Police Force engage in.
