Rent control bill in process

The Ministry of Urban and Rural Development (MURD) says an elaborate process is underway before the Rent Control Board is tabled in the National Assembly.

In 2015, the Cabinet passed a resolution requiring the government to introduce measures to regulate the rental market with a view to preventing the current exploitation of tenants by landlords.

The Rent Control Bill, which is supposed to activate the Rent Control Board to address steep property rental prices, needs to be tabled in the National Assembly by the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development.

Dr.Job Amupanda tables a motion on empowerment and framework establishment

Affirmative Repositioning Movement councillor on the Windhoek City Council, Dr. Job Amupanda, has tabled a motion aiming to empower and establish a framework for councillors to advocate for development.

The motion titled "Councillors as Development Ambassadors and Champions" has been approved by the Council and will be referred to the management committee for further discussions.

AR in Zambezi says people should not see organisation’s silence as weakness

The Affirmative Repositioning Movement in the Zambezi Region says people should not see the organisation’s silence over the past years as a weakness.


The AR's Regional spokesperson Lilungwe Mutafela was responding to criticism that the organisation was silent when houses were demolished at Lwanyanda Informal Settlement.


Mutafela said AR is aware of those complaints and is looking for solutions.


The AR, Mutafela says also plans to relocate those who were affected by the demolishment as well as formalising its structures in the Zambezi.
