The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Peya Mushelenga, says mobile technology network towers along the Okavango River serve Angola more than Namibia.
Dr. Mushelenga visited Kavango East's Ndiyona Constituency to assess the network coverage in the area.
The Minister visited Likurukadi and surrounding villages, where residents complained of poor or lacklustre network coverage.
The villagers struggle to communicate using their cellphones on a daily basis.
The minister's visit comes after several complaints from Ndiyona Constituency Councillor Laurentius Mukoya.
"I also found out that the problem in some of these areas is that there were towers that were installed, but they are projecting more to the Angolan side because they were put on the other side next to the road there, and now they do not project to this side of people in Namibia."
The minister promised to engage MTC on the network towers to see if a solution could be found.
Dr. Mushelenga says population size is among the factors looked at when deciding where to erect network towers as well as government facilities such as schools and clinics.
