Namibia's political stability continues to hold significance within SADC, particularly as several member states are preparing to conduct general elections in the near future.

President Hage Geingob and the Head of the European Union Delegation to Namibia, Sinikka Antila, discussed security concerns and strides made in some parts of the region.

As the chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence, and Security Cooperation, Namibia successfully facilitated peaceful general elections in Angola and Lesotho last year.

However, the situations in the DRC, Mozambique, and Eswatini remain matters of concern, as endeavours to reinstate peace and stability in these three SADC member states continue to take centre stage on the regional agenda.

President Geingob, despite transferring the chairmanship to his deputy, President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, emphasised the imperative of fostering dialogue.

Leaders from the sixteen-member bloc will be meeting in Angola for the annual summit in a week's time.

The European Union says bloc-to-bloc cooperation remains key, anchored on principles of democracy and respect for the rule of law.
