The Sam Nujoma stadium, once a vibrant hub of football in Windhoek's Dolam location, is currently unavailable for use. In a recent press release, the City of Windhoek's spokesperson, Herold Akwenye, confirmed that the stadium's status remains unchanged.

Since March 2019, when a CAF report identified structural movements and deemed the facility high-risk, the stadium has been dormant. The City of Windhoek, specifically the chief of facility maintenance, Fredrik Ganaseb, has taken steps to address the situation. Engineers from WCE Consulting have been working on assessing the structural movements since November.

Funds have been allocated for the ongoing investigation, and the City of Windhoek is committed to resolving the issues surrounding the stadium. However, until further notice, the stadium will remain closed for social events and team practices.

Namibians who once gathered at the Sam Nujoma stadium to witness football's excitement and unity will have to await updates on the progress of the investigation. The priority is to ensure the safety and stability of the stadium before it can be reopened for future use.
