Since assuming the highest office in the land, President Hage Geingob has prioritised open channels of communication as part of building trust with citizens in order to consolidate effective governance.

The year is drawing to a close, and President Geingob is inviting the nation to join him on Monday as he communicates with them via a press briefing.

That briefing would see the Head of State recap some of the key highlights of the 'Year of Revival'.

At the declaration, Dr. Geingob said 2023 was about reigniting the strength of a resurgent nation, a nation that looks to the future with renewed hope and optimism.

He further said it was time for collective revival to shape the future one step at a time, marching towards shared prosperity.

Each leader has his or her own unique way of speaking to the nation.

When he assumed office following his swearing-in on March 21, 2015, Geingob's declaration of war on poverty was a key theme to resonate in the minds of the nation.

The year 2015, by his declaration, came to be known as "The Year of Planning," setting the route to delivering services to the masses.

They can only implement according to what they've planned, and this is why the president declared the next year, 2016, "The Year of Implementation."

With his emphasis always on the inclusive Namibian House, Geingob has consistently described the nation as one nation, where no one is left behind.

That left only one more avenue for improvement, and that was "Re-dedication," the theme for the year 2017.

The following year, 2018, was dubbed "The Year of Reckoning," where the values of hard work, sacrifice, unity, accountability, and transparency were highlighted most.

Accountability is an assurance that an individual or organisation is evaluated on performance, a step towards the promised "Prosperity for All."

Dr. Geingob anointed the year 2019 as the "Year of Accountability."

2020 was declared the "Year of Introspection," and some say self-introspection is a sign of wisdom.

In the context of the Head of State, though, introspection served to reflect on whether planned and intended government objectives and targeted goals, performances, and the basic needs of the masses were met.

The year 2021 was the "Year of Resilience."

President Geingob declared 2022 the "Year of Reimaging," a term that refers to re-creating one's image in a positive light, forming a new mental picture, or seeing things differently.

The president, who values constant communication, will therefore address the nation at ten o'clock in the morning on the Year of Revival, 2023, about what was and is.

The nbc will broadcast the event live.
