Swapo Party Politburo and Central Committee member, Lucia Witbooi, has urged party members to campaign for an outright majority in the November national elections.

She made the call at the opening of the ||Kharas Swapo Party regional executive meeting in Keetmanshoop.

Witbooi further encouraged all eligible voters to re-register to participate in the upcoming elections.

"Let's, as Swapo Party members, make sure we remain in state power. To remain in state power, comrades, we must protect our territory by all means, and we can do it. Swapo is the party. Let me not repeat the old slogans, but we have proven it even with the win last term or in 2019. We have seen what happened, and for us to get more than a two-thirds majority in parliament and therefore stay in state power."

The regional coordinator for ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, called for unity among party members and to respect the Central Committee meeting that confirmed Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as the sole candidate in the presidential election.

"Comrade, those who want to continue with their division and try lecturing us on our Constitution and other documents such as rules of election procedures and calling us names as members of the Central Committee, please, I have this to say: Please, God must bless them. He must bless them. How can you lecture a founding member of the Party Constitution just because you have self-interest and want to cause confusion in the organisation?"
