President Nangolo Mbumba has extended condolences to his Mozambican counterpart, Filipe Nyusi, and the people of Mozambique following a ferry tragedy that killed more than 90 people, including children.
The ferry capsized off Mozambique's northern coast in Nampula Province, en route to a nearby island, on Sunday.
According to local media reports, some survivors managed to reach the island's shore but died there as they were not able to get medical help on time, bringing the death toll to 98 people.
President Mbumba says he is deeply distressed at the news of the fatal incident, adding that the gravity of such a loss tends to leave an indelible mark not only on the affected communities but equally on the nation.
Dr. Mbumba assured President Nyusi that Namibia stands with Mozambique during this trying time and shares the pain.
