The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) is ready to fight for the betterment of Namibia and bring about change in the country.

PDM encapsulates its unwavering dedication to addressing the pressing challenges that face the nation, such as corruption, poverty manifestation, unemployment, and the escalating cost of living.

The PDM President, McHenry Venaani, made these remarks at the official opening of the Central Committee meeting at Opuwo, Kunene Region.

The meeting was aimed at reflecting on the party's past achievements and renewing the party's collective resolve towards the noble cause that unites its members.

The meeting also wanted to relook at its manifesto and scrutinize its draft.

PDM thus needs to rectify its strategies to revive its efforts and reaffirm its commitment to the core values that redefine the party as a movement.

Their collective aims are to diminish the Swapo Party's vote share to below 40%.

"Fellow Democrats, fellow leaders of the central committee, all of us as leaders must have an ambition to change our country to transform the lives of our many Namibians who are underdeveloped, unemployed, and lack poverty. To address the confusion that confronts our country, all of us as leaders of the central committee must have an ambition to change," Venaani said.

He says it is imperative for members to communicate effectively with the Namibian electorate and convey the clear, unequivocal terms and values that their movement represents.

Venaani says one cannot change the world or a nation if he or she is individualistic, nor can he or she change society without thinking collectively and broadly to improve the lives of others.

Members are thus called to articulate the party vision for a future where every Namibian has the opportunity to fulfill their potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.

"I want to implore upon you that all ambitions that we might have to go to parliament to become members of the top six, to become president of the party or councilor of whatever you want to become, think about the majority of Namibians flocking the queues on our behalf, think about them working for them; if you work for them, the part will deliver you as a leader, he added.

He urged his members to never stop campaigning, but they must be out in the public to mobilize people at the grassroots level, going even the extra mile to mobilize people house to house and door to door if they want the party to emerge victorious.

Engagement must also be at the forefront of PDM's efforts to meet the electorate's needs and aspirations.

PDM members and leaders must be critically accountable to the voices of the people and realize that their mandate is derived from their support and trust.

Transparency, honesty, and integrity must be their guiding tools as they strive to build a political movement that is people-centric.
