During the launch of the Keetmanshoop Rotary Club, Rotary District 9350 Governor Ann Wright urged fellow rotarians to contribute to the well-being of society.

Wright emphasized the core values of Rotary, focusing on key areas such as fighting diseases, supporting the environment, education, literacy, maternal and child health, water and sanitation, disease prevention and treatment, peace building, and conflict prevention.

"With society facing challenges in all seven areas of focus, rotarians are skilled at confronting these issues head-on and creating meaningful change. And this is not a journey you undertake alone. With 2.4 million rotarians worldwide, our collective efforts have the power to transform lives."

Wright also highlighted the achievements of Namibia-based rotary clubs in Luderitz, Windhoek, Otjiwarongo, and Walvisbay.

"Some of them are involved in providing educational materials and mathematical programs in schools. They also participate in fundraising cycle tours for their projects. They are actively involved in creating food gardens in different areas. Some of them conduct eye tests for children and provide them with spectacles. They also run programs where children engage in afternoon activities, complete their homework, earn musical instruments, and have recreational time to keep them off the streets."

Richard Cook will lead the newly chartered Keetmanshoop Rotary Club, with Bennie Diergaardt as the deputy.

"Guys, we are rotarians, which means you join Rotary voluntarily, but it also means you make a commitment."

"Our projects have identified a diverse range of initiatives aimed at addressing critical needs within our community. These projects are designed to provide short and long-term relief and sustainable support across various sectors, including education, health, and community development."
