The Vice-President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, was conferred the Thought Leader Award during the Sustainable Development Awards ceremony that was launched in honour of the legacy of the late Dr. Hage Geingob.

The event was spearheaded by the Environmental Investment Fund, in cooperation with the Sustainable Development Advisory Council and the Ministry of Environment.

The awards were a celebration of the late president's commitment to the betterment of Namibia and his transformative vision that continued to shape the nation.

Winners at the function were those partners who demonstrated outstanding contributions to sustainable development. 

Apart from the Vice President, others who made the mark were SM Biocycle Convert cc, B2Gold Namibia,  Aveshe Food Products, Shepherd Nyambe, and Caylah Cordom.

The contribution of nbc's reporter, Blanche Goreses, has also not gone unnoticed.

One of the winners, Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who is the former Minister of Environment, also walked away with an award.

The winners were awarded in categories such as research and development in the field of sustainable development, youth action for sustainable development, community-level natural resource management, and utilisation initiatives. 
 
Others are pioneering journalism in the fields of sustainable development, women and the environment, thought leadership, and sustainable schools.

This was the fourth edition of the Sustainable Development Awards, which was launched in March this year.
