Swimmer The Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation's Short Course Gala 3 saw an impressive turnout of swimmers from different clubs around the city. Held at the Dolphins Swimming Pool in Windhoek, the event featured races across various age groups and skill levels.

With more events like these, the Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation aims to strengthen the country's presence in the swimming world and nurture the next generation of champions. We spoke to the president of NASFED, Riaan Steyn, on how the two-day event went, hosted in three different regions: Erongo, Kharas, and Khomas.

The gala provided an excellent platform for both seasoned swimmers and newcomers to compete in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly. The event also served as a qualifying meet for upcoming national and international competitions.

We caught up with Maja Brinkman, a triathlon athlete, to understand why she chose to participate in the swimming gala. SB We also spoke to Oliver Durand, who broke three under-16 junior men's national records.

Luke Beukes, who closely followed Durand in most laps, shared his experience.

The event's success underscores the Namibia Aquatic Sports Federation's efforts to enhance swimming standards and foster a competitive spirit among athletes nationwide.
