Namibia will benefit immensely from the ten US$50 billion projects that came out of the Forum of China Africa-Cooperation (FOCAC) that took place in China this month.
China's Ambassador to Namibia Zhao Weiping announced this in an exclusive interview with nbc News.
The partnership covers a range of areas, including industrial chain, agriculture, trade, development assistance, health, and people-to-people exchange.
China committed to assist Namibia with drought relief food amounting to more than N$70 million.
The Asian giant is also providing assistance in agriculture development with eight Chinese agricultural experts currently in the country to train locals over two years.
"We will certainly include Namibia in all the actions we will take, so Namibia will enjoy the benefits. And we are currently carefully studying the proposal by the Namibian side, asking the Chinese side to help with your borehole drilling project. And we believe that's also very important, and we will be positive in our study, and we also want to do more to support your agricultural development."
Ambassador Weiping further said FOCAC continues to play a critical role in deepening cooperation since its establishment 24 years ago.
Since its inception, bilateral trade between China and Africa was US$10.5 billion, which has since increased to US$282 billion.
"So far, we have already held four summits, including the recent one, and obviously FOCAC has played a very critical role in deepening China-Africa friendship and practical cooperation within the framework of the forecast; some new mechanisms of cooperation between China and Africa have been established, a lot of important assistant projects have been carried out, and the two-way investment trade in China and Africa has been significantly expanded."
Namibia is the only African country currently exporting beef to China, and other areas of export were identified during FOCAC.
"Our two governments have signed an agreement for China to import your lamb or lamb and mutton. Yeah, and I'm confident that we will also sign agreements to import Namibia's grapes and red crabs once both sides finish technical preparation and for development assistance and people's livelihoods."
China and Namibia have cooperated on several projects of mutual benefit, such as road infrastructure, mining, people-to-people exchange, and education.
