Kaisames FM, in partnership with key stakeholders, is taking their Drive Time Programme out of the studio with a series of live Road Safety Pop-Up broadcasts at various roadblocks in the |Khomas Region.

The programme is aimed at enhancing public awareness about road safety and encouraging responsible driving behaviour.

Road users, which include pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists, are all encouraged to comply with road safety regulations.

The Manager of Kaisames, Des'rae Christiaan, highlighted the role of mutual and collective effort in creating a safer road environment.

"Let's take responsibility for every single thing that we do on the road, whether it's just as a walking pedestrian. If you respect me, then I don't have a reason not to respect you, the road, the rules, and everything that comes with it. And that's all I can say. Kaisames is just here to emphasise and just to share information with its listeners as well."

Namibia has so far recorded 207 fatalities on the road since the beginning of the year.

The emphasis is therefore on adherence to traffic rules and regulations, attitude on the road, wearing of seatbelts, vehicle roadworthiness, speed limits, road signs, and drunk driving.

Chief Inspector of Operations and the Namibian Police, Rudolph Skrywer, explained that "Right now, as we speak at this point in time, at this roadblock, the message that we are sending to the motorists is that they should comply with what the stipulations are saying about the stipulations in the act of the law, what the law says."
