The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) released the official results of 10 constituencies in the presidential election and 15 constituencies in the National Assembly election.
ECN Chairperson Dr. Elsie Nghikembua announced the results from the Central Elections Results Centre last night.
In a previous announcement, ECN stated that it is committed to ensuring transparency in the process of counting votes from polling stations to the final auditing at the center, in order to uphold the integrity of the final results announcement.
The ECN website, which displays official results, reports that 58.84% of registered and eligible voters have cast their ballots.
Ten constituencies out of a total of 121 constituencies have been counted in the presidential election, representing 69,576 voters.
The Swapo Party's presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah, has the most votes in the presidential race at 33,048, or 48%, followed by the IPC's Dr. Panduleni Itula with 19,857 votes, or 28% of the ballots counted so far.
The Landless People's Movement presidential candidate, Bernadus Swartbooi, is in third place with 5,914 votes, representing 8.61%.
The candidate for the official opposition, the Popular Democratic Movement's McHenry Venaani, is in fourth place with 4,859 votes, representing 7.07%.
The Swapo Party got 54,705 votes in the National Assembly ballot, with IPC obtaining 17,873 votes.
The PDM got 5,541 votes, with AR obtaining 5,086 votes in the National Assembly Election and LPM recording 4,325 votes.
The total valid votes across the 15 out of 121 constituencies in the National Assembly Election amount to 98,182, while valid votes in 10 out of 121 constituencies in the Presidential Ballot amount to 68,713.
There have been high incidences of rejected ballots, with a total of 863 having been recorded in the presidential election, while 1,504 rejected votes were recorded in the National Assembly election.
The Central Election Results Centre has received results from the majority of constituency collation centers, and has been announcing them since Saturday night.
