In a related development, Paratus Namibia has confirmed that the hacking was carried out by the Akira cybercriminal group.

In a statement, the company says that approximately 84 Gigabytes of internal data had been compromised.

However, the company says customer back-ups in its cloud-hosted solution remain encrypted by default, reducing the risk of unauthorised access.

Paratus says it is working with international cybersecurity experts to assess the situation and implement necessary protective measures.

It urges stakeholders to remain cautious, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and report any unusual activity.

Paratus Namibia has further assured customers of its commitment to cybersecurity, promising further updates as the investigation continues.
