Body of Christ Party Member of Parliament, Festus Thomas, has urged President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah to declare a state of emergency.
This follows the brutal murders of three minor Okahandja residents.
Thomas said the murder of young children is a serious issue and should not be taken lightly.
He explained that although the President and other top officials visited Okahandja after the killings, more action is needed.
Thomas also warned that if the government does not act, people will feel even more unsafe, adding that attention should not only be solely directed at Okahandja but the country at large, saying the lives of women and children everywhere are at risk.
"In all towns of Namibia, there must be something so that the children in our country can be free when they are going to school. Our women in Namibia must be free wherever they are going."
Thomas believes declaring a state of emergency would allow for more resources to be allocated to police and the government to fight crime.
