A group of the |Hai-|Khaua clan members expressed discontent over the appointment and installation of the clan's deputy Gaob, citing a lack of consultation with the wider community.

The group contended that the Elders Council, mandated by the clan's customary law to spearhead the nomination process, imposed the installation and appointment of the deputy goab decision on the community.

Marius Jacobs, Chairperson of the |Hai-|Khaua Traditional Authority Council, acknowledged the brewing discontent. He emphasised that while the deputy Gaob is set to be installed, the selection process was contested. "Clan members behind my back are not happy and are against this installation because the candidate selection process was not fair, as no consultations with the wider community were conducted the way they should have been," he said.

Lukas Goliath, a member of the Traditional Authority Council, explained further, stating that some community members criticise the customary law as incomplete and used as a tool for intimidation. “The Elders Council governs the entire administration of the traditional authority, and its decisions are beyond challenge—a situation that is evident today,” Goliath added.

Voicing their frustration, clan members Jesaja Haman and Sara Isaak shared their feelings of exclusion and opacity surrounding the process. "We are frustrated because we were not consulted as clan members," Haman said, while Isaak remarked, "We were under the impression that the installation process would be put on hold. However, the Elders Council intervened, and while we are unaware of its decision, the installation is proceeding now."
