A 34-year-old Otjiwarongo resident, Mathew Tauxab, has been denied bail following his arrest in connection with the death of his 25-year-old girlfriend, Risaria Unibes, at their home in DRC location on Friday.
Police say the couple had an argument during which Unibes struck Tauxab in the stomach with a stick. Tauxab reportedly stabbed her once on the left side of her buttock in response.
No eyewitnesses saw the stabbing. However, Unibes's sister reportedly overheard the argument from her room and alerted authorities. Unibes's body was found at their residence and taken to the police mortuary pending autopsy.
Investigations continue to determine whether Unibes died from the stabbing or other circumstances.
The case has been postponed to 2 March 2026.
