The Ndama East Primary School at Rundu will still be registering learners this whole week, with classes only expected to commence next Monday.

When the NBC News team arrived at the Ndama East Primary School on Monday, parents were still in queues registering their children.

The school, which now falls under the Ministry of Education, has over 1,300 learners enrolled, who will be accommodated in 14 tents.

For this entire week, learners will start at 07:30 and leave the school premises by 10:30.

This is due to the absence of potable water and toilet facilities at the school.

The ministry has assured parents and guardians that by next Monday, water and temporary toilets and furniture will be made available, and lessons will resume as usual.

Currently, the Education Ministry's staff conducts lessons while they complete the recruitment process for 15 potential teachers.

That process remains underway, and the successful teachers are expected to start their duties by February.

Learners will continue to be taught in the tents until construction of the new classroom blocks is completed.

The contractor is already on site, and the new classrooms are expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of this year.
