Ahead of the official opening of Angola's ICT forum, ANGOTIC 2026, the NBC delegation visited Angola's national broadcaster to gain insight into its operations and explore opportunities for media collaboration.
The visit provided the NBC delegation with an opportunity to engage with their counterparts and learn more about the broadcaster's role in informing and educating the Angolan public and beyond, seeing that they broadcast 24 hours live, something that the NBC intends to do.
Angola's public television, TPA Deputy Director of Information, Armando Caweie, says the broadcaster is currently undergoing a major transformation aimed at enhancing content production and meeting the evolving needs of audiences in the digital era.
"Our television station has been in existence for 50 years and has gone through several stages of development. The phase we are currently experiencing is the fourth stage, which is essentially the renewal of our technical infrastructure, now equipped with HD technology and more sophisticated equipment that responds to the needs of the broadcasting sector in the country."
NBC's delegation head, Jeaneth Haipare, says the engagement will help expand cooperation, particularly in news gathering, content sharing and technical support during major events such as ANGOTIC.
"Our collaboration with TPA has not started now. We are both members of the Southern Africa Broadcasters Association, and we already share content for Eye on Southern Africa. So this visit here is just to make sure that we broaden that agreement."
NBC will broadcast from ANGOTIC over the coming days.
The visit forms part of activities ahead of the Angola ICT Forum – ANGOTIC 2026, which officially gets underway tomorrow in Luanda.
