The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) seized various illicit drug substances and arrested 143 suspects during anti-drug operations conducted nationwide between 1 and 31 May this year.

In a media release, NamPol reported that drugs confiscated during the reporting period included 223.194 kilograms of cannabis, 917.75 Mandrax tablets, 579 units of crack cocaine, 19 grams of cocaine powder, and 44 abortion tablets.

A total of 143 suspects were arrested in connection with drug-related offences. Of those arrested, 134 are Namibian nationals, while the remaining suspects comprised four Zambian nationals, one Angolan national, two Congolese nationals, one Tanzanian national and one Zimbabwean national.

The police said the seizures and arrests demonstrate the forces' continued commitment to combat drug trafficking and possession.

NamPol further reiterated its determination to intensify efforts aimed at disrupting the illegal drug trade and protecting communities from the harmful effects of substance abuse.
