Petrosol Petroleum Solutions co-owner Johan Botes says creating an enabling environment for the private sector to grow is key to job creation and poverty reduction in Namibia.
Botes made the remarks during the company's 25th corporate anniversary gala held at Otjiwarongo.
The company reflected on its journey of growth, innovation and impact in the fuel and oil industry and recognised the contributions of employees and clients.
Botes says while the government has an important oversight role, the private sector should be afforded the space and freedom to invest and expand.
"Government, please keep a close eye on the private sector, but give the private sector room and freedom to grow and expand and invest, which will result in more job creation and erasing the poverty in our country."
He says a thriving private sector can make a significant contribution to economic growth and employment creation.
"Please do not kill our businesses with unnecessary costs and fees and bureaucracy; let us all strive to make our town a better place for all. We acknowledge the efforts of the municipality to make Otjiwarongo a better place, but you must vigorously guard against becoming complacent; we must always strive to become better to grow and to improve."
The anniversary celebration also provided an opportunity for networking and engagement among stakeholders as the company looked ahead to future growth and continued service delivery.
