The Suiderlig Secondary School's hostel in Keetmanshoop has received three solar geysers courtesy of NAMDEB.
The Deputy Minister of Industries, Mines, and Energy Gaudentia Khrone commended the company's continued commitment to corporate social responsibility.
The donation stems from a pledge that was made during a gala dinner that was held last year to raise funds for the refurbishment of the school hostel.
Through the deputy minister's efforts to secure donor commitments, NAMDEB pledged three solar geysers to improve the living conditions and provide learners with hot water.
"Our diamond companies are not doing good, but despite those facts, I am so happy that Mr Gert Titus gave those blessings and prayers to NAMDEB because they need it. Despite those challenges, they still opted to donate these three solar geysers to you," stated Krohne.
||Kharas Education Director Nicolaas Eiman expressed appreciation to NAMDEB and staff members who worked behind the scenes to make the donation possible.
"We are deeply grateful for this kind gesture. By providing hot water to this hostel, you have provided more than just utility; you have restored comfort to our learners, and you have restored dignity to our learners residing here. This is a vital investment in our regional educational infrastructure."
The Chief Executive Officer of NAMDEB, Riaan Burger, said the company's commitment to invest in the people has a lasting legacy.
"Why is it important to us? It's not about hot water for me; it's about dignity, it's about health, it's about sustainability. Solar geysers are more important because where do we go as a society and country? We need to look more and more at what is sustainable."
