The Popular Democratic Movement's (PDM) Women and Youth League representatives completed a leadership and capacity-building indaba at Otjiwarongo.
The representatives gathered from all 14 regions of the country to acquire essential tools necessary for navigating the intricate political landscape and promoting collaborative governance.
Participants learnt self-management and strategy communication, exploring emotional intelligence, value decision-making, conflict management and modern media diplomacy, including the use of AI.
PDM Secretary General Manuel Ngaringombe explained, "We also have a session discussing the individual visions of leaders and members of the wings present here, focusing on how to build that within your role in the political party. From this point on, we shall not approach our communities as youth, women, and members of the party asking, 'What will PDM do for us?' Instead, we will go out with the mindset of, 'What can we do for our movement?'"
The training, which was hosted in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, encouraged leaders to address social challenges in their respective communities.
Party President McHenry Venaani remarked that "A leader must be someone who seeks to bring about change in the broader interest of society. When you are in training, you are being empowered; we need to equip you because anyone aiming to influence political leadership in the country must develop their capacity. Sharpening the skills of our people is crucial for fostering leadership. One significant aspect of leadership development is emotional intelligence."
