Namibia is looking forward to working closely with the administration of the newly elected Lesotho Prime Minister-elect, Sam Ntsokoane Matekane, through advancing bilateral cooperation and SADC regional development.

President Hage Geingob said this in a statement to congratulate Matekoane.

Business mogul turned politician Matekoane's Revolution for Prosperity party triumphed in the October 7th elections, obtaining 56 out of 120 seats in Parliament.

He will be sworn in on Friday as the 7th Prime Minister of Lesotho since the Kingdom attained independence.

President Geingob, as the Chair of the SADC Organ Troika, is expected to deliver a speech at the inauguration.

In a statement, the President applauded King Letsie III, political parties, and all the stakeholders for advancing the interests of the Kingdom.

Namibia led the SADC Electoral Observer Mission during the elections and has since declared that the election process was free and fair without any major incidents.

"Therefore, consistent with their processes, systems, and institutions, the people of the Kingdom of Lesotho have commendably expressed their sovereign will through the ballot box by electing leaders who will lead the nation towards greater stability and economic heights. In the same vein, I also wish to thank Hon. Frans Kapofi and the Executive Secretary of SADC, Elias Magosi, for helming the work of the SADC Electoral Observation Mission in Lesotho," said Geingob.
