President Hage Geingob, in his capacity as Chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defense, and Security, says a meeting of the Organ Troika will be convened soon.
This follows a courtesy call Dr. Geingob paid to the monarch of Eswatini, King Mswati III, at the Lozitha Palace in Mbabane on Friday.
Briefing the media at the Palace, President Geingob said that the Organ Troika meeting would focus on all security challenges in the SADC region, including the incidents of tension in Eswatini, fighting in the eastern DRC, and regional efforts to stabilize Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado Province.
Dr. Geingob stressed that dialogue and discussions are needed and that all parties must be heard in order to solve problems.
Instead of wars and misunderstandings, he said, the goal is to build trust between leaders and citizens.
The Namibian leader said the second phase of the struggle, that of economic emancipation, requires the cooperation of the countries and development.
Namibia, according to Dr. Geingob, has positioned itself to be a leader in the supply of clean energy through green hydrogen and the fight against climate change.
He said this is just one of many areas in which Eswatini can cooperate with Namibia.
Meanwhile, King Mswati III said that the Kingdom has been working hard towards improving the lives of the Emaswati and pursuing sustainable development.
The King further welcomed the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area, which he says would help expand trade between Eswatini and Namibia.
He also briefed Dr Geingob on the security situation in the Kingdom, which will be discussed in detail once the Organ Troika meeting is convened.
