The Khomas Regional Council has set itself a target of achieving more than 90% implementation of its public service mandate.
Chairperson of the Khomas Regional Council, Shalukeni Moonde, says these goals can only be achieved if councilors focus on their purpose.
Moonde addressed the Khomas Regional Council's opening for the year 2023.
"I would like to urge you to be committed and to work hard towards reaching our strategic goals of delivering services to our |Khomas communities in accordance with our mandate."
Among the regional council's successes achieved last year is the implementation of 20 capital projects aimed at uplifting the living standards and conditions in the Windhoek Rural Constituency, as well as providing clean water and rural sanitation services.
The water intervention program received N$4.3 million in funding.
In addition, the council is constructing more than 100 portable toilets in informal settlements.
To address unemployment, the Council continues its support for small businesses under its Income Generating Activities Project.
An amount of N$500,000 was set aside for the back-to-school program, through which school uniforms are procured for vulnerable children.
On the same occasion, the newly elected Councilor for the Moses ||Garoeb Constituency, Ndengu Stefanus, was sworn in.
