Residents of the ||Kharas Region will be celebrating Independence Day at Karasburg. ||Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze explained that Karasburg was picked with an aim to boost the economy there.

Namibians will hold independence celebrations simultaneously across the country's 14 regions on 21 March.
Information and Communication Technology Minister Emma Theofelus made the announcement this afternoon.

Zambia on Friday celebrated its 61st independence in style.

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, with his special guest Daniel Chapo, presided over the celebrations in Lusaka.

Zambia is celebrating its 61st Independence Day anniversary today, having gained independence from Britain in 1964.

Today, as Namibia proudly celebrates 35 years of independence, thousands of Namibians also mark their birthdays, sharing a special bond with the country. 

The President of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, said this Independence Day not only marks a historic day for Namibia but for the SADC region, as it swore in its third female President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.  

A new chapter in Namibia's history was written as former President Nangolo Mbumba, a steady force over the past year, officially handed over the reins of power to Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the first woman to hold the highest office in Namibia. 

On national days such as independence, people, including leaders, often flock to the host region for the official celebration.

With no event organised, residents would go about their lives the usual way. 

Omaruru, Henties Bay, and Arandis councillors did not attend the Independence Day celebrations at Katima Mulilo in their official capacities after the Erongo Governor withheld their VIP tickets.

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology announced that this year's Independence Day celebrations will be held at Katima Mulilo.

The day marks the country's 34th independence anniversary.
