Flights to Luderitz resume

The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has announced that flights to Luderitz Airport resumed on Friday.

Fly Namibia on Thursday cancelled its scheduled flights to and from the airport due to safety issues caused by unforeseen mechanical problems with the firefighting vehicle operated by the NAC.

The spokesperson of NAC, Dan Kamati, said in a media statement that a Notice to Airmen was issued on the availability of airport rescue and firefighting services, and NAC activated plans to resume operations as soon as possible.

Menzies Aviation dealt yet another blow

Menzies Aviation was dealt yet another blow in its attempts to reverse a decision to award ground handling services to a competitor, Paragon Investments.

The High Court today dismissed Menzies Aviation's latest urgent application, in which the company asks that it be permitted to resume ground handling services at the Hosea Kutako International Airport.

Menzies Aviation was evicted from the international airport on August 19.

Menzies Aviation hands over cargo

A British-owned ground handling service provider at the Hosea Kutako International Airport, Menzies Aviation, has finally complied with a request from the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) to hand over cargo in its possession to the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRa) to release it to the owners.

This was confirmed by Dan Kamati, the NAC's spokesperson to nbc News.

 High Court rules against Menzies Aviation

The Windhoek High Court has ruled that Menzies Aviation has no legal obligation to provide ground handling services at the Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA) and no right to insist on offering these services there. 

The High Court emphasised that the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) was entitled to enforce previous judgements ordering Menzies Aviation to vacate the airport.

This means Paragon Aviation Services will continue to provide ground handling services after taking over such duties when Menzies Aviation was evicted by NAC some two weeks ago.

Judge Ueitele delays order for Menzies Aviation to vacate Hosea Kutako International Airport

High Court Judge Shafimana Ueitele has delayed and suspended the execution of the Supreme Court order for Menzies Aviation to vacate the Hosea Kutako International Airport.

Menzies had the tender for ground handling services at the airport, which has since been awarded to Paragon.

The Supreme Court ordered Menzies to vacate the Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA) after it approached the court, appealing against the decision of the Namibia Airports Company to grant the airport tender to Paragon.
