MIRCO defends Africa's position on Israel, Palestine conflict

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, says it is incorrect to state that African governments are mum on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Nandi-Ndaitwah was responding to a question from PDM President Mchenry Venaani, who expressed concern over the alleged silence of African governments on the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Nandi-Ndaitwah cited ongoing discussions at the UN Security Council, saying resolutions were being drafted by countries such as Russia and Brazil.

Swapo Party VP encourages nation to invest in Agriculture

The Swapo Party Vice President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has encouraged the nation to invest in agriculture to diminish unemployment amongst the youth and reduce poverty.

Nandi-Ndaitwah was speaking at a Swapo Party rally at Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West Region, which was held in preparation for the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly elections next year.

The rally attracted supporters from all corners of the country.

Nandi-Ndaitwah says bringing prosperity to the people remains one of the goals of the Swapo Party.

This can only be achieved through unity, and she called on all members to rally behind the leadership that was elected at last year's party congress.

The SWAPO Party Vice President says Namibians can only unite if they avoid tribalism and regionalism, which derail development and negatively affect people at the grass-roots level. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah made these remarks at the party's rally at Outapi.

Nandi-Ndaitwah says that for Namibians to progress and develop, there ought to be unity of purpose and positive thinking. She says tribalism is an animal that Namibians should fight against, as it is sometimes used as a tool to frustrate the government's development efforts.

Namibia, Cuba to explore new areas of economic cooperation

Namibia and Cuba will explore new areas of economic cooperation during the three-day state visit of Cuba's President Miguel Diaz Canel-Bermudez.

Ahead of the Heroes' Day commemoration, President Hage Geingob and First Lady Monica Geingos welcomed the Cuban leader and First Lady, Lis Cuesta Peraza, at State House.

Deputy Prime Minister becomes first Namibian to receive order of Simon of Cyrene

Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has become the first Namibian to be conferred the Order of Simon of Cyrene by the Anglican Church in Southern Africa and Namibia.

Incepted in 1960, the Order of Simon of Cyrene is the highest award given by the Anglican Church of Southern Africa in recognition of those who have made outstanding contributions to society.

So far, the Anglican Church of South Africa has awarded 81 recipients, with Simon of the Cyrene Order and Nandi-Ndaitwah being the first in Namibia.

Economic recovery can be expedited through the resilience of local business people-  Nandi-Ndaitwah

Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised the need to expedite economic recovery in order to accelerate the country's economic growth.

She made these remarks during the 13th edition of the Eenhana Expo Fundraising Gala Dinner, which took place in Eenhana.


Politicians, businessmen, and women who attended the event pledged over N$357 000 to support the smooth organisation of the expo, scheduled to take place from July 31 to August 5.


FNB Namibia emerged as the primary sponsor by pledging the highest amount of N$50,000 during the event.

Omaheke Employment Creation Conference

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation opened the four-day Omaheke Employment Creation Conference in Gobabis, reiterating the government's commitment to employment creation.

While urging stakeholders to join efforts in ensuring that young people are equipped with the necessary support to be employable, Nandi-Ndaitwah also highlighted agriculture as one of the key areas that should receive support, as it responds to the demand for employment creation.
