President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah signed the Book of Condolences today at the High Commission of Botswana in honour of the late former President of Botswana, Festus Mogae.

Namibia is commemorating the life and legacy of Founding President Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma on 12th May, with President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah celebrating the liberation icon whose leadership significantly influenced the country's independence and democratic foundations.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has extended condolences to Botswana’s President Duma Boko, the people of Botswana, and the family on the death of former President Festus Mogae, who died at the age of 86.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says education, skills training, and human capital remain central to Namibia's development agenda.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has emphasised the importance of honouring those who died during the Cassinga attack and at other locations. 

She urged Namibians to remember the contributions of Cuban nationals who also perished while aiding the survivors.

Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba expressed deep concern over serious social challenges facing Namibia, notably gender-based violence (GBV) and road accidents.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has reaffirmed Namibia's commitment to press freedom, describing it as essential to democracy, human rights and national stability.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed deep appreciation for the wisdom and experience of former President Hifikepunye Pohamba during a visit to his residence in Okanghudi Village, accompanied by former President Nangolo Mbumba.<

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has urged trade unions to not only advocate for fair wages and improved working conditions but also prioritise workers' continuous learning, reskilling, and upskilling.

Nandi-Ndaitwah made these remarks at the Workers Day celebration at Opuwo.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called for alignment between education and the country's evolving economic priorities, stressing that targeted skills development is critical to unlocking opportunities in emerging sectors.
