Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, has reiterated Namibia’s commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation with Cuba.

Speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has called for stronger parliamentary oversight in implementing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda.

Speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila and the Chairperson of the National Council Lukas Muha will lead Namibia’s delegation to a global conference of parliamentary leaders in Geneva, Switzerland, from the 29th to the 31st of July 2025.

The 22nd Annual Conference of the Association of Parliamentary Libraries of Eastern and Southern Africa (APLESA) began in Swakopmund.

This year's event is being held under the theme Parliamentary Libraries and Democracy in the Digital Age.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, has called for regional collaboration on artificial intelligence (AI) governance as Namibia signals its commitment to adopting AI in its parliamentary processes. 

Speaker of the National Assembly, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, has informed the house that the former president, Dr Nangolo Mbumba, declined to assent to the Definition of Spouse Bill and the Marriage Amendment Bill, both introduced by Jerry Ekandjo during the 7th Parliament.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, motivated a budget allocation of over N$140 million for the National Council for the 2025/2026 financial year.

Speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has motivated a budget allocation for the National Assembly of close to N$400 million.

Of this, N$5 million is earmarked for development projects.

The National Assembly's activities have been structured under two main programmes.

Having met the late Sam Nujoma at a young age, now Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila paid her tribute, highlighting his unrelenting opposition to colonialism.

She says Nujoma's achievements have inspired her to cherish freedom and remain committed to true sovereignty.

The Prime Minister has urged Namibians to strive for better services in the country in honour of the late Founding President Sam Nujoma, who persisted and succeeded in securing freedom for the country.
