Minister of Urban and Rural Development James Sankwasa has given the Kavango East regional leadership two days to find a solution to the water crisis in Rundu.

A lack of well-equipped ambulances in the Kavango East Region compromises timely medical assistance to patients in remote areas. 

This was shared by the Chief Medical Officer at the Rundu Intermediate Hospital, Dr. Medson Chibwe, with members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health.

The Director of Education in the Kavango East Region, Christine Shilima, has raised concerns over the high rate of suicide cases among teachers countrywide.

Shilima spoke at a Rundu Circuit Teachers Seminar recently held at Andreas Kandjimi Primary School in Rundu.

The new clinic in Mabushe village, located in the Kavango East Region, is nearing completion.

The construction of this new facility was necessitated by flooding at the current clinic during the rainy season, which likely caused major problems with healthcare delivery. 

The government of Japan, through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, handed over four classrooms at Martin Ndumba Secondary School in the Kavango East Region. 

The classrooms are valued at over N$940,000.

The Kavango East Region's Income Generating Activity Programme under the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare is underfunded and unable to cover all six constituencies.

The programme aims to empower communities by providing materials and equipment to start or improve their businesses. 

Kavango East Region recorded over 23,300 cases of malaria, with 23 deaths.

This was shared during the launch of the indoor residual spray at Popa Malaria Camp in the Andara district.

Some parents with children attending Gabriel Muhuli Combined School at Sambyu, Kavango East Region, say they will keep their children away from school because the school environment is dangerous.

The children did not attend school on Monday and Tuesday.

Some of the issues related to service delivery in Rundu are in the process of being addressed.

Inadequate health services and poor road infrastructure are just some of the concerns residents have been voicing. 

Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) leader McHenry Venaani said that elephants roaming in the village of Mukwe, in the Kavango East Region, have become a concern for villagers, adding that children often do not go to school as they fear for their lives.
