Vice President Lucia Witbooi has urged Namibians to promote unity by embracing cultural diversity and rejecting divisive tendencies, utterances, and practices.

Vice-President Lucia Witbooi is expected to engage traditional leaders of various communities on Genocide Remembrance Day slated for the 28th of May. 

Former President Nangolo Mbumba last year declared 28 May as Genocide Remembrance Day with effect from 28 May 2025.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security has reiterated its call to those who do not have identity documents to take advantage of the mass registration programme.

So far, 34,802 people have acquired national documents since the programme's introduction.

Chaos erupted at the Ondangwa National Youth Service Centre, where a group of 73 Angolan children who have been selling items in the corridors of Namibia are housed.

The children were rounded up from Oshana, Erongo, |Khomas and parts of Oshikoto Regions.
