Senior citizens gathered in Bukalo, Zambezi region, on Friday to commemorate the 34th International Day of Older Persons.

Senior citizens lodging at Keetmanshoop state-owned Daan Viljoen Old Age Home expressed their gratitude for the positive impact of government initiatives intended to enhance their lives. 

They shared sentiments reflecting on their lives and challenges on International Older Persons Day. 

The senior medical officer of Keetmanshoop State Hospital, Dr. Lama Okitemungu, has encouraged the youth to tap into the knowledge and wisdom of the elders for the common good of the nation. 

Dr. Okitemungu further emphasises that society cannot grow without the older generation. 

Senior Citizens of the Moses ||Garoeb Constituency in Katutura were treated to a day filled with appreciation and pampering. 

It was a hive of activity at the Max Mutongolume Community Hall in Havana as the elderly witnessed a tree-planting demonstration. 

About 1,000 senior citizens at Walvis Bay each received a meal and a shopping voucher valued at N$300 as their Christmas gift.

The event was hosted by the Mayor of Walvis Bay, Trevino Forbes.
