International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has tabled the ministry's vote of over N$932.7 million in the National Assembly for consideration.
In her motivation speech, Nandi-Ndaitwah said the budget is guided by Vision 2030, NDP5, Harambee Prosperity Plan and the Swapo Party Manifesto.
In line with her ministry's mandate of international diplomacy, Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed condolences to those who died from the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkiye and Cyclone Freddy, wishing survivors a speedy recovery.
She therefore expresssed commitment that her ministry will continue to champion the national agenda within the framework of African and international diplomatic agendas.
Of the ministry's total allocation, the minister explained that more than N$858 million, which is 92% of the total budget will go towards operational expenditure while N$74 million, is for the development budget.
From this total allocation, N$21.8 million will be used for regional and bilateral relations cooperation.
The section of multilateral policy coordination will get more than N$128 million while the protocol and consular division will receive N$26.5 million.
N$16.5 million will be channeled toward the protocol and consular section.
The ministry has further budgeted close to N$600 million for the missions abroad with aim of protecting the interest of Namibians in foreign countries.
The National Assembly and National Council, Electoral Commission of Namibia, Finance and Public Enterprises Ministries budget were tabled and motivated.
The votes of the President, Prime Minister, Auditor General, National Planning Commission and Anti Corruption Commission offices were considered.
