The Zambezi Education Directorate hopes to improve access to services through its just-launched customer service charter.

The charters follow a directive by the Office of the Prime Minister last year for all ministries to establish functional customer charters.

Launching the concession on behalf of the Zambezi Governor Alfuea Sampofu, Katima Mulilo Urban Councillor, Kennedy Simasiku said he hoped it would serve towards improved service delivery in the region.

"Today we come here to acknowledge that we care, we present commitment to our customers that we are there for them. It is a historical event because the directorate of education takes the lead to publicly promise our society that things can no longer continue to be as they were."

Beaven Walubita is the Director for Planning and Rural Development at the Zambezi Regional Council.

"It's important because it's a key tool that will help us improve our experience and performance, it enables customers to get the most out of our services as it sets out the standard of service that customers can expect to receive from us."

The charter speaks to four common education goals, namely access, equity, quality, and democracy - which he stressed would be realized through hard work.
