Responding to the taxi drivers who have petitioned the municipality over poor roads, Walvis Bay mayor Trevino Forbes says the council has already started repairing some of the main roads. 

"This council came in and decided we were going to interlock intersections in Walvis Bay; that already brought about the much-needed change that you see. Now, there was a dispute on the road maintenance and the tender maintenance, but it has been resolved, and you will see that road maintenance has already started. I am aware of this area; I'm receiving continuous problems, especially with the switch. We are aware of this problem, and we are looking at ways to tackle it. The one thing that is a problem for us is finding funding to fix roads," he said, however cautioning that "funding is needed to fix these roads, but in January we delegated a team to see the road fund administrators, and that team came back with a favorable response. The Road Fund will come on board with more than N$200 million to assist the municipality in fixing our roads. So, that will be done, and we will look at all the concerns that you have."
