The Navachab Gold Mine will provide N$1,5 million to SMEs in Karibib, Otjimbingwe and Usakos, as a way to boost sustainable development under its Golden Egg initiative. 

Launched at Karibib, the initiative will accept applications until 5 May thereafter, 30 SMEs will be shortlisted, to pitch their business ideas. 

"We are in the CBD of Karibib and this is where you can see some entrepreneurs that have an opportunity to benefit from the Golden Egg initiative by the Navachab Gold Mine. According to the company, SMEs will get an opportunity to receive funding, training and mentorship as long as their business ideas are bankable. The initiative was launched at one of the local restaurants earlier and Navachab Managing Director, George Botshiwe indicated that it is a new way for the company to initiate sustainable development. Botshiwe mentioned that Golden Egg is an opportunity to create a new set of entrepreneurs in the Erongo Region", said Erongo Governor, Neville Andre.

He added that this could be an answer to the dream of many on how to start their businesses or those that have businesses that are running and are struggling how to make their businesses grow and sustainable in terms of access to finance, in terms of accessing financial literacy, in terms of accessing proper mentorship to run their businesses.
