The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economics and Public Administration, Natangwe Ithete, strongly opposes the verdict on same-sex marriages.

"We took an oath as members of parliament. We took an oath to protect the constitution of the Republic of Namibia and the laws of the Republic of Namibia, and no single law in the constitution or the laws of Namibia says, and I am urging members of parliament to remember, that we took an oath that we must protect. The oath that you took—the oath that all of us took—to protect the laws. There is no law that says that men should marry each other or that women should engage one another. There is no law that says that we took an oath to protect Namibian law and the Constitution. So we continue to condemn these things."
