18 small and medium enterprises in the Katutura East Constituency have received equipment from the Khomas Region's Income Generating Activity Programme to improve their businesses and create jobs.

The business recipients include those in carpentry, needlework, takeaways, nail technicians, catering, baking, welding, and early childhood development.

The Councillor of Katutura East Constituency, Richard !Gaoseb, says the Income Generating Activities project is directed at supporting small, upcoming entrepreneurs.

"Since the banks and other institutions cannot assist you, this project has therefore been initiated to help you. Constituencies in the |Khomas region, including Katutura East Constituency, are carrying out, among others, the income generation activities grant in the form of materials or equipment given to the individual or community."

He says the assistance given to the community will reduce poverty and create jobs.

!Goaseb added that 126 applications were received, but only 18 were successful.

Beneficiaries have been urged not to store the equipment but to make use of it.
