Lawyer Clive Kavendji of Kangueehi & Kavendjii Inc. has written to activist Dr. Job Amupanda, demanding that Amupanda cease and desist from posting "false and defamatory" allegations against the Minister of Higher Education, Training, and Innovation, Dr. Itah Kandjii-Murangi.

Dr. Amupanda posted on his social media platforms that the minister has used her office to corruptly use public funds through means of travel allowances in the amount of about N$1,5 million.

Kandjii-Murangi’s lawyer has informed Amupanda that his postings are false and are painting his client as a corrupt, selfish person with low morals.

The minister has further demanded, through her lawyers, an unconditional public apology before the close of business on Tuesday, July 11.

Should Amupanda fail to issue an apology, the minister will institute legal action against him.

Dr. Amupanda, in his response to Kandjii-Murangi’s lawyers, says that he has evidence to support his claims, further suggesting that he has no intention to withdraw his social media posting or issue a public apology.

"It often occurs in our country whereby legal practitioners are reduced to mercenaries by belligerent litigants. At times, these litigants do not play open cards with their legal practitioners, causing them to blindly swim in an ocean, thinking they are swimming in a pool," wrote Amupanda.

He further wrote, "Furthermore, ask your client to disclose to you the correspondences between herself and the DBN after a court order. This must include SMS or WhatsApp messages with DBN officials on the matter. Ask your client to provide you with the letter dated October 14, 2022, from DBN’s Rosie Bezuidenhout and assess if that is in tandem with the above-captioned Court Order or DBN credit policies."
