The ǃNamiǂNûs Constituency Office has embarked on self-help community development projects that seek to make a difference and improve the lives of the residents.
The office, in partnership with Kelp Blue, will soon start training 10 youth on crop production at Luderitz.
Regional Councillor Suzan Ndjaleka said Kelp Blue, an aquaculture company, is growing and managing underwater forests in the southern coastal town.
"Partnerships are very important, particularly in the private sector, we can only grow if we have partners on board, and Kelp Blue has committed to supporting us in our agricultural project. We have already fenced off two hectares of land, and we are about to clear that land to grow vegetables, and there will be youth that will be trained on how to manage, and then after a few years, the project will be handed over to the local youth for income generation and also to supply the community with fresh vegetables."
Eight of the 22 youths who were recently trained in basic solar panel maintenance at Luderitz will be enrolled in advanced and entrepreneurial courses funded by NovaNam.
Ndjaleka also revealed that close to N$300,000 was raised towards the ǃNamiǂNûs Constituency Fund.
"The best news is that we have a partner on board, which each month will give 2% of their profits to this fund. This year we have received almost 200,000, and we will, in consultation with the Home Affairs Department, procure an ID-capturing machine for the reason that we had to travel to Keetmanshoop to get IDs. We are hopeful to implement this programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security."
Ndjaleka reiterated her call to the ǃNamiǂNûs constituents to position themselves to benefit from the economic and job opportunities that the Green Hydrogen Development will bring to the harbour town.
